MBB: Hofstra Heads To Gildan Charleston Classic For Trio Of ESPN Contests

Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Men's Basketball team will head to the Gildan Charleston Classic this week for a trio of games, beginning with Thursday's encounter with Dayton.

The Pride and the Flyers will face off at 7:30 p.m. in a game that will be televised by ESPNU. The game can also be heard on the Pride Productions portal. Links to the video, audio and live statistics can be found on this page as well as on the men's basketball schedule page at GoHofstra.com.

Hofstra (2-0) is coming off a dominating 75-57 victory over Kennesaw State on Monday as senior Rokas Gustys led the way with 14 points and 13 rebounds for his 35th career double-double. In addition, the 13 rebounds pushed his career total to 958, moving him into 10th place all-time in Colonial Athletic Association history. Hofstra got a game-high 16 points from junior Justin Wright-Foreman as he has now led the Pride in scoring in a program record (Division I) 14 straight games.

The 2-0 start to the season is the second time in the last three seasons that Hofstra has begun the campaign with two straight victories.

This marks Hofstra's second appearance in the Charleston Classic as the Pride went 2-1 at the tournament in 2008-09, earning wins over Western Michigan and East Tennessee State and dropping a contest to Clemson.

This will be Hofstra's second-ever meeting with Dayton as the Flyers earned a 77-54 win over the Pride at the Dayton Invitational during the 1981-82 season. Hofstra's second game at the tournament will see the Pride face either Clemson or Ohio. The Pride is 0-3 all-time against Clemson and 0-2 against Ohio. The last meeting against the Tigers occurred during the aforementioned Charleston Classic and the most recent meeting versus the Bobcats came in 1986-87.

Friday's game will air on either ESPNU or ESPNEWS and Sunday's third and final game at the tournament will appear on ESPN2 or ESPN3. The Pride's final game will be against either Auburn, Indiana State, Old Dominion or Temple.
