Hempstead, NY – Hofstra Men's Cross Country senior
Alan Hetherington has been named the GoHofstra.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending October 29.
Hetherington, a native of Oshawa, ON, Canada, became the second Hofstra men's cross country runner and the third overall in both the men's and women's programs in the past three seasons to earn All-Colonial Athletic Association honors at the conference championships last weekend. He recorded a time of 25:50.6 to place 11
th and earn the All-CAA accolade. Hetherington led the Pride team for the fourth time this season as Hofstra finished fifth at the 2017 CAA Championship.
A two-time College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 1 first team selection, a two-time CAA Cross Country All-Academic team pick, and a three-time CAA Commissioner's Academic Award recipient, Hetherington was the CAA's Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2015.
Hetherington is the second Pride male runner to earn All-CAA honors since 2015 following
Douglas Dourado, who placed 12
th at the 2015 CAA Championship.
Becky Celorio also earned All-CAA Women's Cross Country honors in 2015 after placing 11
th at the conference championships.
Hetherington and Hofstra will be back in action on November 10 when the Pride teams compete in the 2017 NCAA Division I Northeast Regional Championship in Buffalo, New York.
