Apalachin, NY - Sean Cavanaugh fired a 71 (-1) and is tied for second after one round of the Matthews Auto Intercollegiate at the Links at Hiawatha Landing. Cavanaugh is one stroke off the lead going into Monday's final round.

Hofstra is tied for 15th in the 17 team field with a team score of 316 (+28).

Cavanaugh posted 13 pars and three birdies during his opening round. Kyle Ritchie was Hofstra's next-best scorer on the day, shooting an 80 (+8) to sit in a tie for 61st in the 90-player field. Alec Aronson is tied for 72nd at 81 (+9), while Kenyon Kautz and Eric Shelly each shot 84 (+12), and are tied for 81st.

Saint Joseph's and St. Bonaventure share the team lead at 295 (+7) with Lehigh and Monmouth each two shots back. Ross Pilliod of Saint Joseph's is the individual leader at 70 (-2).

The final round gets underway Monday morning. Hofstra will tee off on hole 10 beginning at 10 a.m.
