Hempstead, NY – Hofstra Wrestling freshman Sage Heller has been named the GoHofstra.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sunday, January 1.

A native of Riverwoods, Illinois, Heller posted a 4-0 record to win the 174-pound weight class at the Lock Haven Classic on Thursday, December 29.

Heller opened the Classic with a 12-0 major decision over Ben Wagner from Virginia Military Institute (VMI) and then topped Binghamton's Anthony Deprez, 11-8 in the quarterfinals. Heller then recorded a 22-4 tech fall at the 3:59 mark over VMI's Nick Johnson, who was wrestling unattached. Heller then wrapped up the title with a 9-5 decision over Virginia's Garrett Peppelman, who was also wrestling unattached, in the championship match.

On the season, Heller is 17-7 overall including 1-2 in dual matches. He has posted six wins by decision, three wins by fall, two major decision and four tech fall victories.

Heller and the Pride will be back in action this Friday, January 6 when the Pride travel to Pennsylvania for a contest at Bloomsburg University. Match time is 6 p.m.
