Senior Jill Mulholland helped keep the Pride's offense rolling, netting a pair of goals to lift Hofstra to its first Division I win over Boston University. Mulholland now leads the team in scoring and has three goals in the season's first three games. Sophomore Jamie Delaney picked up her first career assist on Mulholland's first goal Thursday.

The Pride defense continued to be solid as well, allowing just four shots in the first half from the Terriers in picking up the clean sheet. Goalkeepers Ashley Wilson and Friederike Mehring once again split the game, with Mehring making seven saves in the second half to hold BU scoreless.

Columbia begins its season Friday night against Iona before making the trip to Hempstead on Sunday. The Lions return Emma Anderson, who had a stellar freshman campaign, scoring seven of Columbia's 15 goals in 2015. Classmate Rachel Alexander was second on the team with three goals.

In net, senior Allison Spencer saw the bulk of the workload last season, playing 12 games and making 54 saves in posting a 1.01 goals-against average and .818 save percentage.

The Pride leads the all-time series with the Lions with a 6-4-1 record, going 4-0-1 in the last five meetings. The matchups have been close traditionally, with four needing overtime and seven being decided by one goal or fewer.

Last season, Hofstra took a 2-0 win over Columbia at Hofstra Soccer Stadium. Leah Galton scored early in the second half before Katie Gerdes put the game away in the 79th minute with assists from Madeline Anderson and Kristin Desmond. The Pride outshot the Lions, 22-12, and Mehring made four saves in the shutout.

After hosting Columbia on Sunday, Hofstra will head to the Army West Point Invitational to face off against DePaul and UNC Greensboro on Sept. 2 and Sept. 4, respectively.
