MBB: Green and Koon Ink First Professional Contracts

Hempstead, NY – A pair of recent Hofstra Men's Basketball student-athletes will begin their pro careers shortly as Juan'ya Green and Denton Koon both signed their first professional contracts recently.

Green will join Gymnastikos Syllogos Kymis, which plays in Greece's A1 league. Koon will play for Aris Leeuwarden, which plays in the Eredivisie league in The Netherlands.

Green, the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year, led Hofstra with 17.8 points and 7.1 assists per game last season. He also posted a team-best 56 steals and added 4.4 rebounds per contest.

Green finished with 2,317 career points (Hofstra and Niagara) and 1,186 career Hofstra points. He ranks 22nd all-time in program history and Green's 463 assists at Hofstra rank sixth all-time. In addition, he holds the single season school record for assists with 243 this season.

An all-around stellar season saw Green be one of only four players in the entire nation (Kay Felder - Oakland, Tyler Ulis - Kentucky and Denzel Valentine - Michigan State) to average at least 17 points and seven assists. His 7.1 assists per game ranked first in the Colonial Athletic Association and sixth nationally.

Koon averaged 11.4 points per game and 6.6 rebounds per outing for Hofstra during the 2015-16 season. It was Koon's only season in a Pride uniform and he started all 34 games for Hofstra last season.

He ranked second on the team in rebounds and was fifth on the squad in scoring. Koon also drained 54 three-pointers and added 53 assists and 20 steals.
