Bel Air, MD - Hofstra scored 34 runs on 30 hits as the Pride swept a doubleheader from Coppin State Saturday at the Harford Sports Complex. Game scores were 17-4 in game one and 17-0 in game two.
Hofstra's game one win, its first of the season, was the 100th career victory for Head Coach
John Russo. Russo is the fourth coach in program history to reach 100 wins and he is now 101-109 in his four-plus seasons.
The Pride improved to 2-7 on the season with the sweep, while Coppin State fell to 1-8.

Ryan Karl, who led off the frame with a single as well. Hofstra broke the game open with an eight-run fourth inning, sending 13 men to the plate. The Pride loaded the bases before scoring the first run on a passed ball.
Tom Archer followed with a two-run single,
Teddy Cillis added a sacrifice fly and
David Leiderman than blasted a two-run home run. After two more batters reached base,
Mat Annunziata had an RBI single and
Nick Bottari contributed an RBI double.
The Eagles scored a pair of runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings, but Hofstra had a runs in the fifth, seventh and eighth innings and five runs in the ninth to secure its first victory of the season.
Chris Weiss started for the Pride and went five innings, allowing four runs on five hits. He walked five and struck out three to even his record at 1-1.
Andrew Mundy threw three scoreless frames, while Cillis pitched the ninth.
Krystian Negron (0-2) went four innings for the Eagles, allowing nine runs on nine hits in four innings of work.
In the nightcap, which was scheduled for seven innings, the Pride scored all they would need in a two-run first inning. Foster drew a leadoff walk and came home on Leiderman's double. Following an infield out, Karl delivered a double that plated Leiderman.
The score held until the fourth inning when the Pride pushed four runs across with three coming on
Brad Witkowski's home run. A five-run fifth was highlighted by Bottari's three-run homer and a two-run double from
Kevin O'Connor. After a three-run sixth, Hofstra continued the long ball barrage with a two-run shot from
Mat Annunziata in a three-run seventh.
Max Dolente drove in the other run with a double.
Alec Eisenberg (1-2) went six innings, allowing three hits with six strikeouts.
Dave Jesch pitched the seventh inning for the Pride. Andrew O'Dwyer (0-3) took the loss, allowing 10 runs on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings.
The teams conclude the series Sunday afternoon with a 3 p.m. first pitch.
