BB: Hofstra Drops Twinbill To Missouri

Fort Myers, FL - The Hofstra Pride Baseball team dropped a doubleheader Saturday afternoon to the University of Missouri. Hofstra lost game one, 8-0, and game two, 11-4. The games were played at City of Palms Stadium.

Hofstra fell to 0-6 on the season, all against teams from the SEC. The Tigers improved to 6-2 overall.

In the nightcap Missouri's Connor Brumfield went 4-5 with three RBIs, while Jake Ring went 4-5 with two runs scored. The Tigers scored three runs in the first and then broke the game open with a five-run sixth inning. Austin Tribby picked up the win, allowing three runs on five hits with eight strikeouts in six innings of work.

David Leiderman and Brad Witkowski both had two hits for the Pride, with Leiderman driving in two runs. Alec Eisenberg (0-2) was tagged with the loss after allowing six runs and seven hits in 4 2/3 innings.

Missouri's Tanner Houck (2-0) pitched a complete game in the opener, allowing three hits with nine strikeouts. Trey Harris drove in three runs, including two in a four-run second inning.

Ryan Karl had two hits for the Pride. Chris Bonk (0-1) took the loss for the Pride, allowing seven runs on eight hits in four innings. Freshman John Rooney pitched well in relief, allowing one run on three hits in four innings. He also struck out four.

The teams conclude the series Sunday with an 11 a.m. first pitch.
