MBB: Hofstra Hosts Charleston In Regular Season Finale; Looks To Capture CAA Regular Season Title

Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Men's Basketball team will close the regular season on Saturday when it hosts Charleston at 4 p.m. in a game being presented by W.B. Mason.  

The game, which is being produced by the American Sports Network, will air locally on a delayed basis on SNY at 5 p.m. 

It will be Military Appreciation Day on Saturday as well. 

There is plenty in store for the final regular season game of the year. In addition to celebrating senior day for the program's four seniors at 3:40 p.m. (NOTE TIME), several other events are occurring. The Hofstra Men's Soccer team will be recognized for winning the Colonial Athletic Association title and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and the women's soccer team will be honored for reaching the second round of the NCAA Tournament and capturing the regular season CAA crown. In addition, the Department of Athletics will also recognize its three CAA Scholar-Athlete award winners from the fall (Hannah Klemm, Stella Schoen and Alan Hetherington), its two CAA Players of the Year from the fall (Leah Galton and Joe Holland) and Richard Nuttall for earning CAA Coach of the Year accolades this fall. There will also be a food drive at the game that will benefit the Island Harvest Food Bank. The food drive is being run by the Hofstra Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. 

All veteran, active military personnel and their families will receive complimentary tickets to the game and are encouraged to wear their colors. To receive your complimentary tickets, call the Hofstra Athletics Ticket Office at (516) HOF-TIXX (463-8499) no later than Friday, February 26 at 5 p.m. Tickets can be printed at home or left at will call.

All service men and women will receive a voucher for a free 20 oz. soda to use at the concession stands during the game, courtesy of Compass Dining.

The first 500 fans at the game will receive a Hofstra Pride camouflage t-shirt. The first 500 Hofstra students will also receive a shirt.

Fans can purchase tickets by visiting HofstraTickets.com, where it is now possible to print their tickets at home. In addition fans can also call (516) HOF-TIXX or visit the Hofstra Athletics Box Office in the Mack Sports Complex for more ticket information.

There will be live video of the game (via ASN) with links available on this page or via the men's basketball schedule page at GoHofstra.com. The Pride Productions audio only broadcast can be heard via the portal and the WRHU mobile app. The game will also air locally on WRHU (88.7 FM). 

Hofstra brings a 21-8 overall record and a 13-4 Colonial Athletic Association mark into the regular season finale after a thrilling 70-69 win over UNCW on Thursday. Depending on tiebreakers, Hofstra could capture the regular season conference crown. 

Charleston is 16-12 and 8-9 in league play and most recently dropped a 58-57 decision to Northeastern on Saturday. 

Hofstra is 3-2 all-time against Charleston in a series that began when the Cougars joined the league beginning in 2013-14. Charleston won this season's earlier meeting, 72-61, in South Carolina, back on January 7. Hofstra won both meetings a season ago.
