MBB: Huge Late-Season Clash As Hofstra, UNCW Battle For CAA Crown

Hempstead, NY – Just two games remain in the regular season for the Hofstra Men's Basketball team and the next one will be a huge clash as the Pride head to the Port City to face UNCW on Thursday.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. from Trask Coliseum between the top two teams in the Colonial Athletic Association.

There will be Pride Productions live video of the game (via UNCW) with links available on this page or via the men's basketball schedule page at GoHofstra.com. The Pride Productions audio only broadcast can also be heard via the portal, along with the WRHU mobile app and on 88.7 FM in the local Hempstead and surrounding areas.

UNCW is 13-3 in league play, while Hofstra is 12-4. With only two games remaining in the CAA slate for both teams, Thursday's game will go a long way in deciding the regular season champion and the top seed in the upcoming CAA Championship in Baltimore.

Hofstra (20-8, 12-4 CAA) will need a victory on Thursday if it has any hopes of capturing the regular season crown as UNCW rallied back on February 4 for a 70-67 win over the Pride to take the first meeting between the teams.

The Pride will bring a four-game win streak into Thursday's tilt. In addition, Hofstra's 20 victories this season are the most since the 2010-11 squad won 21 games and with back-to-back 20 win campaigns it marks the first time that has happened since the program won 26 games in 2005-06 and 22 in 2006-07.

Hofstra captured a 65-60 win over defending CAA Champion Northeastern in its last game on Sunday.

UNCW is 21-6 overall and has won 12 of its last 13 games, including a 59-55 overtime victory over Charleston on Saturday.

The series between Hofstra and UNCW has been quite close with the Pride holding a narrow 17-16 lead in the all-time meetings. The series began when Hofstra joined the CAA beginning with the 2001-02 campaign. The Pride has won four of the last six meetings in the series, but UNCW won this season's earlier meeting in Hempstead. Last season each team on the opponent's home floor.
