MBB: Hofstra Hosts Northeastern On Sunday; National Television Audience Awaits

Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Men's Basketball team, winners of three straight, seven out of its last nine and eight out of its last 11 games, will take on Northeastern on Sunday from the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex.

The game, which will air nationally on the NBC Sports Network, will tip shortly after 2 p.m.

Fans can purchase tickets by visiting HofstraTickets.com, where it is now possible to print their tickets at home. In addition fans can also call (516) HOF-TIXX or visit the Hofstra Athletics Box Office in the Mack Sports Complex for more ticket information.

In addition, there are several other exciting things going on at the game. Prior to the contest, senior guard Juan'ya Green will be recognized for reaching 1,000 career Hofstra points and 2,000 career points. The Hofstra Women's Lacrosse team will be honored during the contest for capturing the 2015 Colonial Athletic Association regular season title. Finally, during halftime nearly 300 Hofstra student-athletes and spirit support members will be recognized for their outstanding academic achievement during the Department of Athletics' annual academic recognition ceremony.

There will be live video of the game (via NBC Sports Network) with links available on this page or via the men's basketball schedule page at GoHofstra.com. Steve Schlanger will handle play-by-play duties for NBC Sports Network, while David Kaplan will be the analyst. The Pride Productions audio only broadcast can be heard via the portal and the WRHU mobile app. Chris Buckley, Nick Valastro and Anthony Santaniello will be on the call for the audio only broadcast.

The game against the Huskies will be a rematch of the January 22 epic three overtime contest in which the Pride prevailed by the score of 96-92.

The Pride will take a 19-8 overall record and a CAA mark of 11-4 into the contest. Hofstra is alone in second place in the conference standings, just a game back of UNCW. Northeastern, the defending CAA champion, is in seventh place.
Hofstra captured an 84-82 win over Towson on Thursday to extend the win streak as Green found sophomore center Rokas Gustys for the game-winner with 2.7 seconds left in regulation. Green finished with game-highs of 21 points and 10 assists, while Gustys had 16 points and a game-best 12 rebounds.

Northeastern improved to 15-13 overall and 7-8 in league play with a 95-94 win over James Madison in triple overtime on Thursday. Quincy Ford led the way with 36 points, while David Walker added 19 points.

The Hofstra-Northeastern series has been a close one with the Huskies holding a narrow 20-18 lead in the all-time meetings. The first meeting occurred during the 1949-50 campaign and the teams would not meet again until the 1994-95 season as members of the North Atlantic Conference. Hofstra earned its first win over Northeastern during the 1995-96 season. The Huskies had won eight straight in the series prior to Hofstra's win earlier this season.
