BB: Hofstra Drops 5-2 Decision On Opening Night At No. 4 Texas A&M

College Station, TX - Hofstra outhit fourth-ranked Texas A&M, 10-7, but the Aggies were able to come away with a 5-2 win on opening night at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Stadium.

Hofstra (0-1) got two hits each from David Leiderman, Ryan Karl and Brad Witkowski.

The Aggies (1-0) got on the board in the first with a solo home run off the bat of Boomer White. But the Pride answered in the second as Karl and Vito Friscia had back-to-back singles and Karl moved to third on a fly out before Nick Bottari drove in the first Hofstra run with a single to left field.

Hofstra took a 2-1 lead in the third as Leiderman led off with a double and Steven Foster followed with an RBI single. The lead was short-lived as Texas A&M tied it up in the bottom of the frame as J.B. Moss led off with a triple and Ryne Birk delivered a sacrifice fly.

The Aggies took the lead for good in the fourth as Walker Pennington's sacrifice fly scored Hunter Melton, who had singled to lead off the inning. Texas A&M tacked on single runs in the fifth and sixth.

Hofstra starter Alec Eisenberg took the loss, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits in four innings of work. He struck out one batter and did not walk anyone.

Kyle Simonds went five innings for the Aggies and allowed two runs on seven hits. Ryan Hendrix went the final 1 2/3 innings for his first save. White and Moss each had two hits for the Aggies.
