MBB: Important Stretch Begins For Hofstra With Thursday Home Game

Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Men's Basketball team will start the final two weeks of the regular season on Thursday when the Pride host Towson.

The game is being presented by W.B. Mason.

Tip-off from the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex is scheduled for 7 p.m. between the two Colonial Athletic Association rivals.

There are several other exciting events taking place on Thursday as well. The game will serve as Hofstra's "Coaches Powering Forward for Autism" event as the program raises awareness for autism.

In addition, the Hofstra Department of Athletics will honor several of their own for recent milestones. Head Field Hockey Coach Kathy De Angelis will be recognized during the game for reaching 200 career wins, women's soccer student-athlete Leah Galton will be honored for her tremendous All-American career and the Hofstra Volleyball program will be recognized for being the 2015 CAA regular season champions.

Fans can purchase tickets by visiting HofstraTickets.com, where it is now possible to print their tickets at home. In addition fans can also call (516) HOF-TIXX or visit the Hofstra Athletics Box Office in the Mack Sports Complex for more ticket information.

There will be Pride Productions live video of the game with links available on this page or via the men's basketball schedule page at GoHofstra.com. The Pride Productions audio only broadcast can also be heard via the portal and on the WRHU mobile app.

The standings in the CAA showcase a tight race with just four games remaining. UNCW leads the way at 12-2 in league action with Hofstra alone in second at 10-4. There is then a three-way tie for third at 9-5 between Towson, James Madison and William & Mary.

Senior guard Juan'ya Green, who had 19 points and 12 assists in Hofstra's 77-66 win over Delaware on Saturday, leads the team in scoring at 17.8 points and has amassed 187 assists.

Towson is 18-9 overall in addition to its CAA record. William Adala Moto leads the Tigers in scoring and rebounding with averages of 14.2 points and 8.0 rebounds per outing.

Hofstra and Towson will be meeting for 63rd time on Thursday with the Pride holding a 38-24 advantage in the series. The teams first met during the 1982-83 season with Hofstra winning 86-71. In 2014-15, the teams split the season series with each squad winning on the road. Hofstra's win over the Tigers in Maryland last season ended a five-game win streak for Towson in the series. The Pride has won the last two meetings. Coach Mihalich is 3-4 all-time as a head coach against Towson.
