VB: Hofstra Set To Host Three Matches This Week

Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Volleyball team will host three matches this week as they begin to position themselves for next month's Colonial Athletic Association Championship.

The Pride will host Northeastern on Wednesday (7 p.m.), UNCW on Friday (7 p.m.) and Charleston to conclude the week on Sunday (1 p.m.).

There will be live video/audio available for all three matches, along with live statistics. The broadcasts can be found via the Pride Productions portal, along with links on this page and on the volleyball schedule page at GoHofstra.com. Live stats can also be accessed on the schedule page and via links on this page as well.

Hofstra (16-7, 6-4 CAA) went 1-1 last week, earning a three-set sweep of William & Mary before dropping a tough four-set decision to James Madison.

Freshman Laura Masciullo leads Hofstra with 286 kills and 24 service aces, while ranking fifth on the squad with 134 digs. The Pride has shared setting duties throughout the 2016 campaign and senior Hannah Klemm has a team-high 684 assists with freshman Luisa Sydlik posting 329. Sophomore Luisa Domingues has 342 digs to lead Hofstra, while sophomore Michela Rucli has a roster-high 79 blocks and also ranks fourth on the team with 199 kills.

Northeastern and Charleston represent the two teams in the CAA standings as both are 8-2 in league play. Northeastern has an overall record of 18-6, while Charleston is 15-7. UNCW, the defending conference champion, is 14-8 overall and 4-6 in conference. The conference tournament will feature the top six teams in the league standings and be held November 18-20 at UNCW.

The Pride will be looking to return the favor to all three opponents this week as each defeated Hofstra on their respective home courts earlier this season. Northeastern beat Hofstra in three sets on October 15 and the all-time series is 38-12 in favor of Hofstra. The Pride dropped four-set matches to Charleston (September 23) and UNCW (September 25) last month. Hofstra is now 4-6 all-time against Charleston and 23-6 against the Seahawks.
