Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Men's Basketball team will have a stern test on Thursday as the Pride will head to Boston on Thursday for a 8 p.m. showdown with Northeastern. That contest will be televised in the New York area by SNY. Check your local listing for broadcast information in your area.
The Huskies are the defending Colonial Athletic Association champions, having defeated William & Mary in the conference title game before dropping a close game to Notre Dame in the NCAA Tournament.

Hofstra (12-6, 4-2 CAA) has completed one-third of its CAA slate and currently in a six-way tie for first in the conference standings. Northeastern is also part of the six-way tie and has an overall mark of 12-7 this season. Both squads had impressive wins in non-conference play this season as well as Hofstra defeated Florida State at the Paradise Jam, while Northeastern went on the road and beat Miami (FL).
All five starters are averaging in double figures for Hofstra through 18 games, making the Pride one of only two schools in the entire nation to stake that claim. The other school is Texas-Rio Grande Valley. In addition there are only eight schools in the entire nation that has five players averaging double figures (Iowa State – 6, Hofstra, Maryland, North Florida, Siena, South Carolina, SMU and UTRGV).
Senior guard
Juan'ya Green, who had 17 points, nine assists and six rebounds in Hofstra's 86-82 overtime loss to James Madison on Saturday, leads the team with 17.2 points per game and has dished out a team-best 118 assists this season. Sophomore center
Rokas Gustys, coming off the incredible 25-point, 20-rebound effort vs. JMU, is now averaging a double-double with 11.7 points and 10.1 rebounds per outing. He has double-doubles in four straight games and eight overall in 2015-16. He was named the CAA Player of the Week on Monday.
David Walker leads Northeastern with 17.7 points per outing, while also ranking first on the squad with 73 assists. Quincy Ford is second in scoring at 16.6 per game and is the leading rebounder at 7.2 caroms per outing.
The Hofstra-Northeastern series has been a close one with the Huskies holding a narrow 20-17 lead in the all-time meetings. The first meeting occurred during the 1949-50 campaign and the teams would not meet again until the 1994-95 season as members of the North Atlantic Conference.
