WLAX: Hofstra Travels To No. 18 Ohio State On Sunday

Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Women's Lacrosse team will face its third ranked opponent of the season on Sunday when the Pride travel to Ohio State to face the #18 Buckeyes. First draw control is scheduled for 12 p.m.

There will be live video and statistics for the game and links to both can be found on the women's lacrosse schedule page at GoHofstra.com or via the story links on this page.

Hofstra (5-3) will take on Ohio State before beginning Colonial Athletic Association play next week. The game against the Buckeyes is the Pride's second to last non-conference game this season as Stony Brook will visit James M. Shuart Stadium on April 21.

As has been the case all season, senior attacker Brittain Altomare led Hofstra offensively in the Pride's last game, a dominating 9-5 win over Rutgers. Altomare had three goals and four assists for seven points, while also adding five draw controls.

Altomare's incredible senior season is evident in the national rankings as she leads the entire nation in assists (23) and assists per game (2.88), while ranking second in points per game (5.38), sixth in points (43) and seventh in draw controls per game (5.88). Her 43 points are 26 more than the next highest total on the Pride roster.

A pair of other players on the team are having breakout second seasons for Hofstra as sophomore attackers Tiana Parrella and Morgan Knox have 17 and 16 points, respectively. The duo is tied for second on the team with 11 goals.

In goal, senior Kelsey Gregerson has amassed an 8.91 goals against average and a .437 save percentage this year. She is bolstered by a strong defense led by senior defender April Iannetta, who leads the team with 24 ground balls and 19 caused turnovers.

Altomare has a team-high 47 draw controls, while Iannetta ranks second with 31.

Ohio State is 8-2 this season and enters the game having won four of its last five games. They fell, 13-5, to No. 18 Notre Dame in their last contest on March 21.

The Buckeyes are very deep offensively as seven different players have at least 18 points this season. Jackie Cifarelli leads the team with 39 points on 14 goals and 25 assists, while Katie Chase is second with 27 goals and seven assists for 34 points. Chase has a team-high 39 draw controls, while Taylor Donahue has 13 caused turnovers and Mary Kate Facchina has 17 ground balls.

Ohio State leads the series with Hofstra, 3-0, with all three meetings occurring in the past three seasons. The two most recent meetings have both been one-goal games as the Buckeyes won 11-10 in overtime in 2013 and last year they captured a 9-8 victory.
