MBB: Final Non-Conference Game For Hofstra; Sacred Heart Visits The Mack Sports Complex

Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Men's Basketball team will look to put the finishing touches on a solid non-conference slate when it hosts Sacred Heart on Monday, December 28 from the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex.

Hofstra (7-4) will host the Pioneers at 7 p.m. and will be looking to finish the non-conference portion of its schedule with a perfect 4-0 record. The last time the Pride finished its non-conference schedule with an unblemished home record was during the 2006-07 campaign when Hofstra won both of its home non-conference games.

Fans can purchase tickets by visiting HofstraTickets.com, where it is now possible to print their tickets at home. In addition fans can also call (516) HOF-TIXX or visit the Hofstra Athletics Box Office in the Mack Sports Complex for more ticket information.

There will be Pride Productions live video of the game with links available on this page or via the men's basketball schedule page at GoHofstra.com. The Pride Productions audio only broadcast can also be heard via the portal and also locally on WRHU (88.7 FM) and the WRHU mobile app.

Hofstra is coming off a 68-54 win over Florida Atlantic on December 22. The Pride was led in that game by senior forward Ameen Tanksley, who totaled 20 points and 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. Hofstra took control of the game with its outstanding rebounding as the Pride held a 47-28 advantage in that category. In addition, Hofstra had three players (Tanksley, graduate forward Denton Koon – 11 and sophomore center Rokas Gustys – 10) with at least 10 rebounds for the first time since November 17, 2001 when Danny Walker (11), Wendell Gibson - 11) and Kenny Adeleke (10) achieved that feat.

Sacred Heart is 1-9 this season and has lost nine straight games. Most recently they dropped a 103-67 decision at Northwestern on December 21. Cane Broome leads the Pioneers with 19.4 points per game. Sacred Heart's second-leading scorer, Jordan Allen, is averaging 12.3 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. Allen will be familiar to Pride Basketball fans as he played two seasons for Hofstra – 2012-13 and 2013-14.

Hofstra leads the all-time series with Sacred Heart, 4-2. The first meeting occurred during the 1969-70 season and the Pride won 84-68 on the road that year. The Pioneers won the last meeting between the teams during the 2013-14 season, 73-59, in Hempstead.

The Pride will open Colonial Athletic Association play on New Year's Eve against Delaware at 1 p.m.
