Troy, NY – The Hofstra Wrestling team began their 2015-16 dual-match schedule Sunday at the Journeymen/Asics Northeast Duals at Hudson Valley Community College with the Pride dropping three matches including two to top 25 teams.
Hofstra opened the day with a 39-3 loss to 25th-ranked Northern Iowa, followed by a 24-12 loss to Lock Haven and a 31-9 loss to third-ranked Michigan at the Northeast Duals. Pride junior

Jahlani Callender were each 2-1 in the three matches.
In the first match against the Panthers of Northern Iowa, UNI won the first six matches to build a 30-0 lead before Hofstra junior
Frank Affronti defeated Drew Foster at 174, 8-3. But that was the Pride's only win of the match as the Panthers cruised to the 39-3 victory.
Hofstra squared off against Lock Haven in its second match of the day and quickly fell behind 9-0 as the Pride forfeited the 133-pound matches all day. But Hofstra's 15th-ranked junior
Jamel Hudson defeated Lock Haven's 12th-ranked Dan Neff at 141, 9-2, junior
Jahlani Callender topped Aaron McKinney, 3-1 at 157, and junior
Frank Affronti blanked Tyler Wood, 3-0 at 174 to close to 15-9. But Lock Haven posted a major decision at 184 and a tech fall at 197 before Hofstra junior
Michael Hughes closed out the match with a 4-0 victory over Brad Emerick for the 24-12 final.
In the Hofstra finale against the third-ranked Michigan, the Wolverines jumped out to a 9-0 lead before the Pride posted wins in three of the next five matches to close to 16-9. Hudson edged George Fisher, 5-4 at 141, Callender defeated Jordan Amine, 8-6 at 157 and Affronti defeated Davonte Mahomes, 3-2 at 174. But Michigan closed out the match with a win by decision and two wins by fall for the 31-9 victory.
The Pride return to action next Sunday, November 22 when they compete in the New York State Collegiate Championships at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
