VB: Hofstra Returns Home To Host UNCW And Charleston

Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Volleyball team will play its first home matches since late September when the Pride entertain UNCW and Charleston this weekend at the David S. Mack Physical Education Center.

Hofstra (15-8, 6-2 CAA) will take on the Seahawks on Friday at 7 p.m. before closing the weekend with a 1 p.m. tilt against the Cougars on Sunday afternoon.

Both matches will be the second for Hofstra against these opponents as the Pride went on the road earlier this month and defeated Charleston in five sets on October 1 and matched that outcome on October 3 at UNCW. In addition, the match against Charleston will be a rematch of the 2014 Colonial Athletic Association Championship match that Hofstra won to earn the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament. Hofstra's last four matches against Charleston have all gone to five sets.

There will be Pride Productions live video and audio on Friday and live audio on Sunday. Links can be found on this page and also on the volleyball schedule page at GoHofstra.com. In addition, live statistics will also be available in the same locations.

Hofstra went 3-2 on its recent stretch of five straight matches away from home. The Pride's last home match was a 3-2 win over Elon on September 27. There is no admission charge to Hofstra Volleyball home matches.

Hofstra is coming off a solid three-set sweep of Delaware on Friday as sophomore middle blocker Leticia Valente had a match-high 16 kills and a .481 attack percentage, while junior setter Hannah Klemm added a match-high 51 assists and freshman libero Luisa Domingues picked up a match-high 22 digs.

This week sets up as a huge week in the CAA as James Madison currently leads the way at 8-0 but there is a three-way tie for second place at 6-2 among Hofstra, UNCW and Towson.

The Pride will hope their strong play at the Mack Physical Education Center continues as Hofstra is 6-0 at home this season and 20-3 over the last two seasons.

UNCW enters the week sporting a 15-5 overall record and the previously mentioned 6-2 conference record. Charleston is 11-10 overall and will carry a 3-4 conference mark into this week's matches.

Hofstra is 23-4 all-time against UNCW following this season's win down in Wilmington. The Pride is 3-4 all-time against Charleston.
