Box Score Syracuse, NY – Hofstra senior Jonel Boileau scored two first half goals but five different Orange players scored goals as tenth-ranked Syracuse defeated the Pride, 6-2 in a non-conference game at J.S. Coyne Field Sunday afternoon.

The Orange snapped a three-game losing skid and is now 7-3 on the season. Hofstra dropped its third consecutive game and is now 7-4 on the year.

Syracuse struck twice in the first 16 minutes as freshman Laura Hurff scored her first collegiate goal just 3:05 into the contest and classmate Annalena Ulbrich posted her sixth goal of the year, off a penalty corner, at the 15:35 mark for a 2-0 lead.

Boileau cut the Syracuse lead almost two minutes later, off a pass into the circle from sophomore Emily Gallagher. It was her seventh goal of the season. Syracuse boosted the lead to two at the 25:52 mark when freshman Lieke Visser scored the first of her two goals on the day, off a penalty corner, for a 3-1 advantage.

But once again, Boileau brought the Pride to within one at halftime at 3-2 off a pass off a scramble from sophomore Stella Schoen just 2:40 before the break. The Orange outshot the Pride, 12-5 in the first 35 minutes.

The second half was all Syracuse as Visser tallied her second of the game and fifth of the year 4:15 into the period for a 4-2 advantage. Junior Alyssa Manley scored her third of the season in the 47th minute and senior Jordan Page tallied her sixth of the year in the 59th minute to close out the scoring in the game for the Orange.

Hofstra was outshot in the game, 24-9 and the Orange had nine penalty corners to six for the Pride. Hofstra freshman goalie Carys Swan made six saves in the game while Jess Jecko made three saves and allowed two goals in 61:24 of action before Rebecca Congel played the final 8:36 with one save.

Hofstra begins Colonial Athletic Association play on Friday, October 3 when the Pride host the Huskies of Northeastern at the Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium. Game time is 3 p.m.
