FH: Schoen and Boileau Score But Hofstra Falls At Quinnipiac

Box Score Hamden, CT – Sophomore Stella Schoen and senior Jonel Boileau tallied first half goals for Hofstra but senior Danielle Allan and sophomore Lily Shemo tallied second half goals for the Bobcats to give Quinnipiac a 4-2 non-conference victory over the Pride at the QU Field Hockey Turf Complex Thursday afternoon.

The Pride, which dropped their second consecutive game, slip to 7-3 on the season. Quinnipiac, which won their second consecutive contest, improve to 3-5.
 
The Bobcats took a 1-0 lead at the 9:51 mark as Allan beat Pride freshman goalie Carys Swan (3 saves) for her fourth goal of the season.

But the Pride came back and scored consecutive goals over the next five minutes to take a 2-1 lead. Sophomore Stella Schoen, who returned to the Hofstra line-up after missing seven games with an injury, scored her first goal of the season, off a pass from classmate Claudia Marin Samper at the 10:31 mark to tie the game.

Almost four minutes later, senior captain Jonel Boileau took a pass from freshman Simca Schoen and beat Quinnipiac senior goalie Megan Conaboy (8 saves) for a 2-1 lead. The lead lasted for nine minutes when Bobcats sophomore Lea Dietrichs scored off a pass from Allan for her second goal of the year. Despite Hofstra having a 9-5 advantage in shots and a 4-1 advantage in penalty corners, the score stood tied at 2-2 at halftime.

The Bobcats came out in the second half and scored twice in the first 16 minutes to open up a 4-2 lead. Almost six minutes in Allan scored her second of the game, from Dietrichs, to give Quinnipiac a 3-2 lead. Ten minutes later, Shemo scored her first goal of the season, from freshman Dayna Barlow, to boost the lead to 4-2.

Hofstra returns to action on Sunday, September 28 when they travel to upstate New York to face the 10th-ranked Syracuse Orange (6-2) at Coyne Field. Game time is 3 p.m.
