9/21/2014 4:00:00 PM

Box Score Durham, NH – Junior Meg Flatley scored four goals as the Wildcats of New Hampshire snapped Hofstra's seven-game winning streak with a 7-1 decision over the Pride at Memorial Field Sunday afternoon. Hofstra is now 7-2 on the season.

The Hofstra loss ended the Pride's longest winning streak since the 2003 season when the Pride won eight consecutive contests. The streak fell just two wins shy of tying the school mark of nine consecutive wins, set in 1987 as well as a combined two season streak in 2002-03.

Hofstra junior Charlotte Loehr tallied her sixth goal of the season in the 16th minute to cut the Pride's deficit to 2-1 after Flatley scored twice in the first 12:31. But junior Meg Carroll and Flatley scored before the end of the half to open up a 4-1 lead at the break.

The Pride thought they cut the deficit by one at the end of the half on a goal off a penalty corner by senior Jonel Boileau. But the goal was disallowed due to a green card early-reentry infraction.

New Hampshire (2-6) added two more goals in the first eight minutes of the second half as Flatley tallied her seventh and sophomore Lindsey Nerbonne tallied an unassisted goal for a 6-1 advantage at the 42:18 mark. Junior Taylor Rideout closed out the scoring with her first of the season with 4:18 to play.

Hofstra was outshot in the contest, 19-10 including 10-5 in the first half. Each team had six penalty corners. Hofstra freshman Carys Swan allowed three goals in the first 19:58 before being lifted for red-shirt freshman Lauren Saltus, who went the rest of the way allowing four goals and making six saves.

UNH senior goalie Carlie Tarbell made three saves and allowed the lone Pride goal in 62 minutes. Red-shirt freshman Melissa Rize played the final eight minutes for the Wildcats.

Hofstra returns to action on Thursday, September 25 when they travel to Quinnipiac for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
