Claudia Marin Samper scored twice and freshman
Simca Schoen added two assists to lead the Hofstra Pride to their fifth consecutive victory with a 4-0 win over Vermont in the first round of the Catamount Classic Saturday.
The five-game winning streak is Hofstra's longest since a six-game winning streak in 2009. The Pride is now 5-1 on the season. Vermont is 0-5 this season.

Carys Swan recorded her first collegiate shutout by making five saves for her fifth victory of the season.
The Pride scored three times on five shots in the first half to build a comfortable lead. Loehr opened the scoring at the 13:28 mark, picking up a rebound and beating Vermont goalie Emily Snowden. It was Loehr's fourth goal of the season. Boileau made it 2-0 seven minutes later by deflecting a Schoen pass to the far post into the goal. It was her fourth goal of the season.
Marin Samper notched her fourth goal of the year at the 32:48 mark on a pass from Hussong and beat Snowden with a low shot for a 3-0 lead at halftime. Marin Samper tallied her second of the game and fifth of the season in the 48th minute off a pass from Schoen. It is the second two-goal game of the year after a two-goal, one-assist performance against Sacred Heart on September 5.
Hofstra outshot the Catamounts, 19-9 including 14-4 in the second half. The Pride also had 10 penalty corners to Vermont's three.
The Pride will face the University of Maine Black Bears on Sunday (Sept. 14) in the second and final round of the Catamount Classic at 12 p.m.
