Lisa Eberwein recorded a personal-record as did four other Hofstra runners at the 2014 NCAA Division I Women's Cross Country Northeast Region Championship at Van Cortlandt Park Friday afternoon.
Eberwein clocked a 6K time of 24:39 to finish 244th and top her previous best, set at the Princeton Invitational, by 23 seconds. Friday's meet was the first time in her career that she has led the Pride team.
Freshman Irene Garidas was the Pride's second finisher, placing 251st in 24:53 to top her previous best, set at the CAA Championship by 27 seconds. Classmate
Megan Tidey placed 254th in 24:56, topping her previous best set at the CAA meet by 25 seconds. Red-shirt freshman
Emily McLean was the Pride's fourth finisher, clocking a time of 25:13 to place 259th. That time topped her previous best set at Lehigh's Paul Short Run by three seconds.
Senior
Eva Holtermann was Hofstra's final scorer, clocking a time of 26:02 to place 271st. Freshman
Kristen Politi was the Pride's final runner, posting a personal-best of 28:29 for 275th place and best her previous mark set at the CAAs by 26 seconds.
As a team, Hofstra placed 40th with 1269 points. Iona, number one in the region and 17th in the country, won the regional with 91 points. Providence (128) was second and Dartmouth (136) was third. Syracuse (154) and Boston College (180) rounded out the top five. Iona junior Kate Avery was the individual champion posting a time of 19:49.
The NCAA Northeast Regional concludes the 2014 Hofstra Cross Country season.
