MSOC: Three Hofstra Players Named To All-CAA First Team

Hempstead, N.Y. – Senior forward Maid Memic, sophomore midfielder Joseph Holland and sophomore defender Harri Hawkins were the Hofstra players selected to the Colonial Athletic Association All-First Team, the league announced today.

Senior midfielder Elliott Firth was selected to the third team and junior goalkeeper Patric Pray was tabbed to the all-academic team for the Pride. Freshmen Mani Walcott and Danny Elliott were tabbed to the all-rookie team.

Delaware's Guillermo Delgado was the CAA Player of the Year while UNCW's Jacob VanCompernolle was picked as the Defensive Player of the Year. Northeastern's Frantzdy Pierrot was the Rookie of the Year and UNCW's Aidan Heaney was the Coach of the Year. Voting was done by the league's head coaches.

Memic earned a spot on the All-CAA First Team for the second consecutive season. He tied a career high with 10 goals and his 22 points fell one shy of his career high set in 2013. The Kozarac, Bosnia native ended his career with 30 goals and 72 points in 73 games, finishing fifth on the program's all-time list.

Memic is tied for second with UNCW's Jamie Dell for the second-most points in the CAA behind Delgado. He is one of just three players in the CAA to currently reach double-digits in goals.

Holland (London, England) was a 2012 CAA Rookie of the Year and was an All-CAA Second-Team selection. He earned his first career All-First team pick by leading the league in assists with nine. That total is three more than the next-closest player.

Hawkins became a dependable defender in his first year with the Pride. Hawkins appeared in 19 games with 18 starts and tallied one goal and helped Hofstra shut out eight opponents with his work on the back line.

Firth earned third-team All-CAA honors for a second straight season after scoring two goals with three assists for a career-high seven points. Firth, a native of Sheffield, England, played a strong two-way game in helping the Pride finish tied for the most points in the CAA.

Elliott (Nottingham, England) finished his first campaign with three goals and seven points in starting 18 games. Walcott (Beltsville, MD) registered an assist in playing all 19 games.
