MGOLF: Hofstra Places Sixth At Rutgers

Piscataway, NJ - David Mecca shot a final round 71 (E) as Hofstra placed sixth at the Rutgers Invitational Saturday afternoon at the Rutgers Golf Course.

Hofstra shot a final round 293 (+9) to finish with a three-round score of 873 (+21).

Mecca's 71 gave him a three-round total of 216 (+3), which tied for 14th place. Brandon Shin was the Pride's top finisher, tying for ninth place in the 96-player field at 213 (E) after a final round 74 (+3). David Won fired a 72 (+1) Saturday and tied for 18th place at 218 (+5). Sean Cavanaugh tied for 51st with a 227 (+14) after carding a 77 (+6) during his final round. Jonathan Farber had his best round of the weekend with a 76 (+5) and tied for 79th at 235 (+22).

Fairfield's Steve Burak claimed the individual title with a 206 (-7), one stroke ahead of Rutgers' Jacob Stockl.

Wofford claimed the team title at 859 (+7), one stroke better than the host Scarlet Knights.

The Pride returns to action Monday and Tuesday at the Hartford Hawks Invitational.
