MGOLF: Pride Take Second Place At CCSU

Bloomfield, CT - Hofstra shot the second lowest round of the day, a 10-over 290, and finished second at the Central Connecticut State Blue Devils Invitational Monday afternoon at the Wintonbury Hills Golf Club.

Hofstra posted a two-round score of 585 (+25) to finish 23 strokes behind team champion Boston College (562, +3). The Pride was four shots better than Sacred Heart and Iona, which both totaled scores of 589 (+29) in the 12-team field.

Senior Brandon Shin was Hofstra's top finisher, tying for sixth place after a final round 69 (-1) gave him a two-day 143 (+3). Shin tallied five birdies in his round and was one of just two golfers to break par on the day.

Classmate David Mecca and sophomore David Won tied for 14th at the event with scores of 147 (+7). Mecca shot 74 (+4) Monday, while Won carded a 75 (+5). Senior Jonathan Farber tied for 42nd at 155 (+15) following a final round 72 (+2). Sophomore Johnson Ko also tied for 42nd after shooting 79 (+9) Monday.

Boston College's Nick Pandelena and Connor Greenlead shared individual medalist honors at 138 (-2).

Hofstra returns to action this Friday and Saturday at The Doc Gimmler (formerly The McLaughlin), hosted by St. John's at the Bethpage Red Course.
