Hempstead, N.Y. – Hofstra will look to improve its playoff positioning as the Pride close the regular season with two home games in three days, starting with a 7 p.m. kickoff on Friday against Drexel and a 1 p.m. Sunday matinee against Delaware at Hofstra Soccer Stadium.
The Pride is 3-0-1 in the last four games to clinch a spot in the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament. Hofstra is 9-6-1 and 4-2-1 in league play. With 13 points, Hofstra secured a place in the top-six of the nine-team league.
Free live audio will be available for both games by way of the PRIDE ZONE with Sunday also featuring free live video via PRIDE PRODUCTIONS. Live statistics will also be available for both games as well.
Friday's game will be a matchup of the current fourth-and-fifth place teams with Drexel (7-6-3, 4-1-2) entering with 14 points. The top-two finishers in the league earn a bye in the CAA Tournament opening weekend, while the third and fourth-place teams host the quarterfinal round. Delaware is currently in sixth with 10 points (7-8-1, 3-3-1). One more point in either of the next two games will secure a spot for the Blue Hens, as seventh-place UNCW can earn a maximum of 10 points with only one CAA game remaining.
Sunday will also mark senior day for the Pride, with Hofstra honoring Sam Scolarici, Ingrid Moyer, Caylin Dudley, Lulu Echeverry, Erin Havard and Melissa Kress in a pregame ceremony. Fifth-year senior Amber Stobbs was honored last season.
Scolarici will continue her quest for a second consecutive CAA scoring title. Scolarici has a league-leading 14 goals, which is currently tied for the third-highest single-season mark in program history. Scolarici set that record with 18 goals in 2013.
This season, Scolarici is tied for sixth nationally in Division I in goals and tied for 10th with 30 points. Junior forward Leah Galton, who has goals in back-to-back games, has nine goals and three assists for 21 points. The duo has combined for 23 of Hofstra's 40 goals and has accounted for 51 of the team's 104 points.
Hofstra has historically been successful in the series, though Drexel has won the last two. The Pride has a 14-4 advantage in the all-time series. Drexel defeated Hofstra, 2-1, in the lone matchup between the schools last season. Galton scored Hofstra's lone goal. Drexel also won the 2012 matchup. But prior to the current two-game winning streak by the Dragons, Hofstra had 10 in a row and went from 2001-12 without losing.
Offensively, Drexel is led by Melissa Chapman (five goals) while Megan Hammaker (four goals and four assists) leads the team with 12 points. Lauren Stollar is the third Drexel player with at least four goals and has a stat line of 4-1-9.
Hofstra will face Delaware for the first time since the teams played to a 1-1 tie in Newark, Del. last season. Hofstra is 15-6-1 in the all-time series. Delaware has lost three of the last four games and will conclude the regular season with road games at Northeastern and Hofstra.
