Oakdale, NY – The Hofstra women's cross country team placed third in the Division I race of the inaugural 4K St. John's-Hofstra Cross Country Fall Festival on the Oakdale campus of St. John's.
Sophomore Becky Celorio continued her streak of leading the Pride, placing ninth (fifth in Division I) in the women's race in 15:43. Senior Kristin Mathis was 25th overall (14th in DI) in 16:33 while sophomore Eva Holtermann was 26th (15th) in 16:35. Seniors Brittney Towner was 31st (17th) in 16:45 while Jacklyn McKnight was 46th (25th) in 17:17. Sophomore Lisa Eberwein was 48th (26th) in 17:18.
The Pride recorded 76 points, 31 points behind Division I team champion, Manhattan College. The Lady Jaspers also had the DI individual champion in Milena Stoicev in 15:23. Seton Hall was second with 51 points. Hofstra was third and was followed by St. John's (78) and New Jersey Institute of Technology (95). Adelphi captured the Division II-III-JC division title, including having the top runner on the day in Betsy Eickelberg in 15:00.
The Pride return to action on Saturday, September 21 when they travel to the 5K Towson Tiger Invitational in Hunt Valley, MD. Race time is 11 a.m.
