Harrisonburg, VA – Pride junior Jonel Boileau scored her 13th goal of the season but the Dukes scored once in the first half and twice in the second half as James Madison defeated Hofstra, 3-1 in a Colonial Athletic Association game at the University Park Complex Friday night.

The Pride fall to 6-13 overall and 2-3 in the CAA while James Madison improves to 9-8 on the season and 2-3 in conference play. With JMU defeating Hofstra, Delaware (13-4, 6-0) downing Drexel (12-6, 3-2) and Northeastern (7-11, 3-2) defeating William and Mary (7-10, 2-3) Friday night, the battle for the final three spots in the CAA Championship Tournament will come down to the final trio of games on Sunday. The Blue Hens of Delaware are the top seed and will host the Championship.

Hofstra didn't help their cause Friday night as the Dukes scored the first three goals of the contest on their way to victory. Junior Taylor Bailey opened the scoring at the 18:40 mark off a deflection of a shot from sophomore Loes Stijntjes for her sixth goal of the year.

James Madison expanded the lead 16:28 into the second half as sophomore Adrienne le Vatte scored an unassisted goal to boost the lead to 2-0. It was her seventh goal of the season. Junior Bethany Ashworth notched her fourth goal of the year at the 60:03 mark off a pass from sophomore Kristen Reitano for a commanding 3-0 lead.

Boileau, the Pride's leading scorer and the number two scorer in the CAA, gave the Pride some hope with her 13th goal of the season, off a rebound, with 6:06 to play in the contest. But that was all Hofstra could get past senior goalkeeper Stephanie Tarafas, who made seven saves in the contest to post her fifth win of the year.

Hofstra senior goalkeeper Kaitlyn De Turo recorded double-digit saves for the seventh time this season, making 11 saves against the Dukes. James Madison outshot Hofstra, 22-13 and had five penalty corners to the Pride's four.

Hofstra returns to action with a possible CAA Tournament bid in the balance on Sunday (Nov. 3) for the regular season finale when they face the Tribe of William and Mary at Busch Field in Williamsburg, VA. Game time is noon. Drexel will host Towson and James Madison will host Northeastern with both games starting at 1 p.m. in the other key conference games on Sunday,
