MBB: Moore Named To All-Met Second Team

Hempstead, N.Y. - Hofstra senior guard Mike Moore was named to the All-Met Division I second team, it was announced today by the Met Basketball Writers Association.

Moore capped his final collegiate season by leading the Colonial Athletic Association in scoring, averaging a career-best 19.9 points per game. In logging more than 34 minutes per contest, Moore also averaged 4.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists while shooting better than 80 percent from the free-throw line.

The accolade comes more than a month after Moore earned All-CAA Second Team honors. In his final season, he led the Pride in total points (637), three-point percentage (39.1) and made field goals (200).

Iona's Scott Machado won the Haggerty Award as the All-Met Division I men's college basketball player of the year. Danny Hurley of Wagner and Steve Masiello of Manhattan were named co-coaches of the year while St. John's Moe Harkless was selected as the rookie of the year.

The All-Met players and coaches will be honored Thursday evening, April 26, at the Westchester Marriott in Tarrytown, N.Y.

Joining Moore on the all-second team is Fordham forward Chris Gaston, Fairfield forward Rakim Sanders, Manhattan swingman George Beamon, LIU forward Jamal Olasewere and St. John's guard D'Angelo Harrison.
