Hempstead, N.Y. - Hofstra senior guard Mike Moore was
named to the All-Met Division I
second team, it was announced today by the Met Basketball Writers Association.
Moore capped his final
collegiate season by leading the Colonial Athletic Association in scoring,
averaging a career-best 19.9 points per game. In logging more than 34 minutes
per contest, Moore also averaged 4.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists while shooting
better than 80 percent from the free-throw line.
The accolade comes more than
a month after Moore earned All-CAA Second Team honors. In his final season, he
led the Pride in total points (637), three-point percentage (39.1) and made
field goals (200).
Iona's Scott Machado won the
Haggerty Award as the All-Met Division I men's college
basketball player of the year. Danny Hurley of Wagner and Steve Masiello of
Manhattan were named co-coaches of the year while St. John's Moe Harkless was
selected as the rookie of the year.
The All-Met players and
coaches will be honored Thursday evening, April 26, at the Westchester Marriott
in Tarrytown, N.Y.
Joining Moore on the
all-second team is Fordham forward Chris Gaston, Fairfield forward Rakim
Sanders, Manhattan swingman George Beamon, LIU forward Jamal Olasewere and St. John's guard D'Angelo Harrison.
