6/23/2011 1:17:00 PM

Hempstead, N.Y. - A home game against national semifinalist Boston College highlights the 2011 Hofstra Women's Soccer schedule, which was released today.

Hofstra will entertain Boston College on its opening weekend, facing the Eagles on Sunday, August 28 at 1 p.m. The season will begin on Friday, August 26 with a 4:30 game against Fairfield, which will be the first half of a doubleheader with the men's team.

The Pride finished 19-3 last year and two of the three losses came to Boston College. Hofstra fell in its season-opener at the Eagles in August, then won a school-record 18 games in a row. The Pride then traveled to Chestnut Hill again for the NCAA Tournament, and after knocking off Connecticut 1-0, Boston College ended its season with a 3-1 win in the second round. The Eagles went on to qualify for their first College Cup, where they fell to Stanford in the semifinals.

Hofstra will also play at the St. John's Invitational on Sept. 2-4, facing Columbia and Albany, and then travel to Texas Tech's tournament on Sept. 9-11, facing the host Red Raiders and TCU. The non-conference schedule will conclude with a road game at Harvard on Sept. 16.

The Pride's CAA schedule will begin with home games against James Madison on Friday, Sept. 23 and VCU on Sunday, Sept. 25, and will conclude with a road game at Northeastern on Saturday, Oct. 29.

The CAA Tournament will then return to a six-team format this year (after being reduced to four teams the last two years), with the opening round on Thursday, Nov. 3, the semifinals on Friday, Nov. 4, and the finals at Nov. 6. All games will be played at the highest seed.
