Hofstra Cruises Past Drexel On Senior Day

Hempstead, NY - Hofstra received first half goals from seniors Thorhildur Thorhallsdottir and Manon Lebargy, and a second half goal from graduate student Mathilde Braithwaite as the Pride cruised to a 3-0 CAA victory over Drexel Sunday afternoon at a rainy Captains Field. The game was Hofstra's final regular season home game.

The Pride moved to 5-2-7 overall and 2-1-3 in the CAA with the victory. Drexel dropped to 2-5-8 overall and 1-3-2 in league action.

Thorhallsdottir opened the scoring at 13:40 when she floated in what looked like a crossing pass from the left side of the box that drifted into the upper right corner. The goal was her second of the season. A little more than seven minutes later, Lebargy doubled the lead when she redirected a shot from distance by senior Aimee Hodgson. The low shot from just outside the 18-yard box was headed to the center of the goal when it went off Lebargy's foot and ended up in the lower right corner. The goal was Lebargy's team-best fourth of the season.

Braithwaite capped the scoring at 64:15 when she took a pass from senior Polly Watson and raced down the right side into the box and sent a shot across the goalmouth and inside the left post. It was her third goal of the season.

Senior Carly Travers, who was making the first start of her Hofstra career, had one save in 86:27. Classmate Marisa Dambach came on for the final 3:33 and did not face a shot.

Drexel goalkeeper Sammy Widnick had two saves, including one on a penalty kick.

Hofstra will return to action Thursday at UNCW. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
