Hempstead, NY- The #1-ranked Big Red of Cornell swept all 10 matches, including four by fall and one by forfeit, to defeat the Hofstra Pride, 45-0, at the Physical Education Center Saturday afternoon. The Big Red improve to 8-1 on the season while the Pride, who had their five-match winning streak snapped, slip to 9-4-1.

Cornell recorded victories by fall by third-ranked sophomore Kyle Dake at 149, freshman Craig Eifert at 165, third-ranked senior Mack Lewnes at 174 and number-one ranked junior Cam Simaz at 197 and picked up a win by forfeit at 133.

The contest opened up at 125 with Cornell's 10th-ranked senior Frank Perrelli posting a third period escape and takedown for a 5-2 victory over Pride sophomore Steve Bonanno (17-10). After sixth-ranked senior Mike Grey won by forfeit at 133, senior Corey Manson also posted an escape and a takedown in the third for a 7-6 victory over junior Vince Varela (15-10) and a 12-0 lead in the contest.

At 149, Dake pinned Pride junior Matt Spataro (6-13) in 1:33 and 11th-ranked senior D.J. Meagher rolled over Hofstra sophomore Tyler Banks (16-13) at 157. In an upset at 165, Cornell freshman Craig Eifert pinned Hofstra's 14th-ranked junior P.J. Gillespie (19-6) in 4:46 at 165 for a 27-0 advantage in the contest.
Lewnes made it two pins in a row when he caught Ryan Patrovich (11-4), the Pride's 16th-ranked senior, in 3:33 at 174 pounds.

At 184, Hofstra junior Ben Clymer (14-8) battled sixth-ranked junior Steve Bosak before dropping a 3-0 decision on a third period reversal and the riding time point. Simaz pinned Hofstra freshman Matt Loew (8-21) in 1:41 at 197 pounds. Sophomore Stryker Lane closed out the match with a 4-0 victory over Pride sophomore Paul Snyder (19-12) at 285, accumulating 4:32 in riding time.

Hofstra returns to action on Wednesday, February 9 when they travel to Lock Haven (PA) University at 7 p.m.
