Four Earn NWCA Scholar All-America Accolades

Hempstead, NY - Four members of the Hofstra University wrestling team - Kyle Mosher, Ross McFarland, Noah Tapia, and Matthew Waddell - have been recognized by the National Wrestling Coaches Association as Scholar All-Americans, it was announced today by the organization.

The award recognizes exceptional student-athletes who demonstrate excellence in academics and athletics. To earn recognition, a student must meet at least one of the following criteria:
  • Top 8 NCAA Finish and 3.00 GPA
  • National Qualifier and 3.2 GPA
  • Conference qualifier and 3.5 GPA
  • 15 matches with 60% win record and 3.5 GPA
Tapia is a repeat NWCA Scholar All-American, while the others first time selections. Mosher, a sustainability major, and McFarland, a health and physical education major, were each NCAA qualifiers after winning EIWA championships at their respective weight classes. Tapia, a history major, and Waddell, a finance major, both competed at the EIWA Championships.

A total of 339 scholar-athletes were recognized for their outstanding achievements.
