Garden City, NY - The Pride men's golf team edged St. Francis (NY), 651-663, in a head to head matchup Monday afternoon at the Cherry Valley Club in Garden City, NY.
Hofstra's Connell McNamara led all scorers with a two round total of 157 (+13). The freshman shot rounds of 78 (+6) and 79 (+7) to edge teammate Chris Davis and St. Francis' Charles McMenamin by one stroke. McMenamin led after the first round at 77 (+5), but faltered in the seocnd round with an 81 (+9). Davis shot identical rounds of 79.
David Smith of St. Francis was fourth with a 159 (+15) after rounds of 83 (+11) and 76 (+4). Hofstra's Andrew Roberts was fifth at 168 (+24) after carding rounds of 82 (+10) and 86 (+14).
Zachary Chyz was St. Francis' third-leading scorer, placing sixth at 170 (+26). Chyz shot rounds of 87 (+15) and 83 (+11). Alan Stuto rounded out the Terrier's scoring in seventh place at 176 (+32). Stuto scored an 88 (+16) in both rounds.
Hofstra's Justin Nash and Harry Poster rounded out the Hofstra scoring in eighth and ninth place, respectively. Nash had rounds of 93 (+21) and 84 (+12) to finish at 177 (+33). Poster had an 84 (+12) in round one and a 94 (+22) to finish at 178 (+34).
The event concluded Hofstra's 2009-10 season.
