STUDENT-ATHLETE ADVISORY COMMITTEE CONCLUDES FIRST ANNUAL FALL FOOD DRIVE

Hempstead, NY - The First Annual Fall Food Drive, sponsored by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), concluded last week resulting in two hundred families being provided a meal for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. Food was collected at two home football games in October, and included a collective effort from the athletic department, with staff and student-athletes donating Thanksgiving items. All collected food items were delivered to The INN (Interfaith Nutrition Network), located in Hempstead, New York.

The end of the food drive was marked by a visit to The INN by approximately fifteen student-athletes, who assisted in creating two hundred Thanksgiving food baskets for those in need. Student-athletes from various teams visited The INN, including those from Baseball, Women's Soccer, Women's Tennis, Men's Tennis, Field Hockey, Softball, and Women's Golf.
