1/5/2009 5:00:00 PM

The Northeastern Men's Basketball team jumped out to an 11-0 lead and never looked back as it stayed in first place in the Colonial Athletic Association with a 73-50 win over Hofstra on Monday evening.

The loss drops Hofstra's record to 9-5 overall and 1-2 in the Colonial Athletic Association. Northeastern improves to 8-5 overall and 3-0 in the CAA, tying it for first place with George Mason.

Hofstra had no players in double figures in scoring for the first time in Head Coach Tom Pecora's eight-year tenure. Junior guard Cornelius Vines (Syracuse, NY) led Hofstra with eight points, while sophomore guard Charles Jenkins (Queens, NY) was held to a career-low three points as he had his streak of 28 straight games in double figures snapped.

Northeastern was led by its inside game as senior power forward Manny Adako had 16 points and eight rebounds, while junior center Nkem Ojougboh had 13 points and eight rebounds.

Hofstra will next be in action when it entertains Delaware on Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. contest.
