Sophomore third baseman Matt Prokopowicz (Massapequa, NY) was named to the All-Colonial Athletic Association third team it was announced today. Prokopowicz, who was a second team all-CAA selection last year, batted .312 with eight home runs, 39 RBIs, 37 runs scored, 62 hits, and a .432 on-base percentage this season. The sophomore led the Pride in hits, homers and RBIs while playing in, and starting each of Hofstra's 55 games. Prokopowicz saved his best for when it mattered most as he batted .340 in conference play, while slugging six of his eight home runs against CAA opponents.

Prokopowicz's 62 hits on the season ranks as the 11th highest season total for a Hofstra player (tied with two others) while his 34 walks ranks tied for ninth, and his 55 games played is tied for fifth. In his freshman campaign, Prokopowicz set the school record with 82 hits in a season. In his short career, Prokopowicz has compiled 144 hits, which ranks just outside the top 10 on the Hofstra career list and is just 57 hits from tying the all-time Hofstra hit leader, current assistant coach Josh Stewart (201).

The Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year was UNC Wilmington catcher Mark Carver, the Defensive Player of the Year was Towson shortstop Nick Natoli, the Rookie of the Year was UNC Wilmington relief pitcher Cameron Roth and the co-coaches of the year were George Mason's Bill Brown and UNC Wilmington's Mark Scalf.
