Senior guard Antoine Agudio (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman - pictured) was named first-team All-District 2 by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), it was announced today.

Agudio earned All-District 2 honors from the NABC for the third year in a row. He was a second-team selection as a sophomore in 2005-06, before earning first-team honors last winter. He is now eligibile for the State Farm Division I All-America teams, which will be announced on Saturday, April 5 at the NABC Convention in San Antoinio.

Agudio enters the CAA Tournament holding Hofstra career records in scoring (2,249 points) and three-pointers (352). He became Hofstra's all-time leading scorer on Feb. 27 at Delaware, breaking the Pride's 43-year old school record of 2,222 career points, which was set by Steve Nisenson in three seasons from 1962-65 (during the freshman ineligibility era).

This year, Agudio has ranked among the top 15 scorers in the country all season long. He actually led the nation in scoring for a period of 17 days in December, before falling behind current leader Charron Fisher of Niagara (who was also named to the NABC All-District 2 First Team). Agudio currently ranks 13th in the nation at 22.5 points per game, through Monday's contests.

Agudio also needs three three-pointers at the CAA Tournament to finish his career with the top four single-season totals in school history. The previous single-season record of 81 was set by Demetrius Dudley in 1992-93. Agudio broke that mark as a freshman with 82, then had 91 as a sophomore and 100 as a junior. He currently has 79 this winter, three shy of breaking Dudley's old mark for the fourth straight season.

Hofstra and Agudio will open play at the CAA Tournament when they take on Towson on Friday at 12 noon at the Richmond Coliseum. The winner of that game will move on the quarterfinals on Saturday at 12 noon against top-seeded Virginia Commonwealth.
