Senior guard Antoine Agudio (Huntington Station, NY) was the top scorer (27.8 ppg) at the 2007 Empire State Games while helping the Long Island team to a bronze medal this past weekend at Iona College.

Agudio helped the Long Island squad to an 89-80 win over New York City in the bronze medal game, capping off his tournament with a 27-point performance. He began the Empire State Games with 33 points, including seven three-pointers, in a win over Adirondack on Thursday. He followed up that performance with 22 points in a win over Central New York, then capped off round-robin play with 29 points in a loss to New York City. Agudio bounced back to lead Long Island to the win in the rematch for the bronze medal.

Agudio was joined on the Long Island team by teammate Greg Washington (Brentwood, NY). Incoming Hofstra junior Darren Townes (New York, NY) was also a member of the New York City team, where he averaged 7.3 points over four games.

Agudio averaged 20.2 points per game for Hofstra last season, while setting school records for three-pointers in a season (100) and in a career (273). He enters 2007-08 with 1,664 points, putting him ahead of pace to become the all-time leading scorer in Hofstra history. He is also has the third most points in the country among active Division I players (behind VMI's Reggie Williams and Utah State's Jaycee Carroll) and ranks third in career three-pointers as well (behind Tennessee's Chris Lofton and Coastal Carolina's Jack Leasure).

A member of the 2006-07 All-Colonial Athletic Association first team, Agudio will have a chance to become the firrst Hofstra player to play in the postseason all four years of his collegiate career. The Pride has qualified for the Postseason NIT in each of the last three seasons. He also needs 22 wins to tie the members of the Class of 2001 as the winningest players in school history.
