HILLIER NAMED THIRD TEAM ALL-AMERICAN

5/30/2007 2:15:00 PM

Hofstra University senior midfielder Kimberly Hillier (Farmingdale, NY) earned the second US Lacrosse/Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-American honor of her career today when she garnered third team accolades, it was announced this afternoon by the organizations.

Hillier becomes just the fourth player in program history to achieve All-American status twice in their respective careers, joining Stephanie Clarke (1996 and 1997), Kathleen Mikowski (2001 and 2003) and Bridget Eder (2004 and 2005).

A four-time all-region selection, Hillier was a second team All-American in 2006.

The first student-athlete in any sport in Hofstra's Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) history to be named to the All-CAA first team all four years during their respective career, Hillier tied for the team lead with 52 points this season.  She was first in assists with 23, while ranking third with 29 goals.  In addition she led the Pride with 51 draw controls and also totaled 12 caused turnovers and 12 ground balls.

Hillier finished her career second all-time in program history in points (215), tied for first in assists (82), third in goals (133), fifth in ground balls (120), ninth in caused turnovers (42) and second in draw controls (143).  She is tied for first in assists with Kathleen McPike, who tallied 82 from 1998-2001.

Hillier helped lead Hofstra to its second-ever NCAA Championship appearance, as the Pride defeated James Madison in the CAA title game before falling to Johns Hopkins in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.  Hofstra went 12-7 during the 2007 campaign, winning their first-ever Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) title and the 12 victories ranks as the fourth-most in a single season in program history (since 1976).
