5/30/2005 2:30:00 PM

Hofstra University junior defender Brett Moyer (Ridley Park, PA) has been named to the 2005 NCAA Division I All-America second team, the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association announced at the NCAA Championship weekend at Lincoln Financial Field.

Moyer, who was a third team All-American in 2004, recorded 72 ground balls and caused 36 turnovers while posting a goal and two assists in 16 games this season. He was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Year, as well as being named to the All-CAA first team.

Moyer, who earned his second all-conference first team honor and his third overall all-conference selection this year, anchored a Pride defense that allowed 8.14 goals per game in 2005. Moyer, who was the CAA Rookie of the Year in 2003, is Hofstra's second CAA Defensive Player of the Year award winner following another Pride All-American, Nicky Polanco in 2002.
