Rudy Martinez (pictured) and Steve Santore finished one-two as the Hofstra Men's Cross Country team captured the team title at the Fairfield Invitational on Saturday.
Hofstra finished with 26 team points, edging Siena (32) for the team title. Sacred Heart, Fairfield and St. Francis rounded out the five team field.
Martinez easily captured the individual title, crossing the finish line in a time of 25:55.8, 54 seconds ahead of Santore, who fought off Siena's Darren Legere (26:53.9) for second place. Martinez' time also set a 29-year old course record.
Mark Walters finished in fifth place for Hofstra with a time of 27:03.0, while Adam Morrison and Jon Truitt also earned points by finishing in eighth and 10th place, respectively.
Hofstra will next be in action when it returns to Fairfield for a dual meet on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 10 a.m.
