MIKOWSKI NAMED THIRD TEAM ALL-AMERICAN

Kathleen MikowskiHEMPSTEAD, New York ?“ Senior midfielder Kathleen Mikowski (New Hyde Park, NY/New Hyde Park) was named a third team All-American by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association and US Lacrosse (IWLCA/US Lacrosse), it was announced today by US Lacrosse.

Mikowksi, also a third team selection in 2001, is Hofstra's third-ever All-American. Stephanie Clarke earned All-American honors in 1996 and 1997, while Kathleen McPike was named to the third team in 2001.

In her final season as a member of the Pride, Mikowski led Hofstra in a multitude of categories, including: goals (57), points (71), shots (124) and draw controls (60). In addition, she was second on the team in assists (14), caused turnovers (22) and ground balls (55). Mikowski closes her career as one of the greatest women's lacrosse student-athletes to ever play at Hofstra. She holds numerous season and career records at Hofstra, among them: goals in a season (57 ?“ 2003), career goals (183) and career points (240). Mikowski, who started all 16 games this season, was also a first team All-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) selection.

Hofstra finished the year with an overall record of 8-8 and a CAA mark of 4-3. The Pride finished in a tie for third in the CAA and advanced to the conference tournament for the seventh time in the past eight seasons.
