WSOC: Hulbert Named CAA Co-Rookie Of The Week

Hempstead, N.Y. – Freshman Emily Hulbert was named the Colonial Athletic Association's Co-Rookie of the Week, the league announced today.

Hulbert's first collegiate goal was the game-winner as Hofstra knocked off previously unbeaten Northeastern, 1-0, on Saturday. The first-year midfielder redirected a corner kick into the goal in the 65th minute as the Pride became the first CAA team to score against the Huskies this season.

Northeastern entered the game with the second-lowest goals-against-average in Division I and was coming off five straight shutouts, including four clean sheets to begin CAA play. But Hulbert scored off a corner with Jeannine Molleda and Chloe Dale picking up the assists as Hulbert scored off the re-direction.

With injuries impacting Hofstra's midfield, Hulbert has seen an increased role. The Victoria, Australia native has played in all 14 games of Hofstra's 8-6 start and has made seven starts. Her goal was the difference in the win over the defending-CAA champion Huskies as the Pride improved to 3-2 against the league.

Hulbert shared the CAA rookie honors with Drexel freshman Madison Dunn. The Pride will resume play on Friday with a 7 p.m. league road game against the College of Charleston.
