Student-Athlete Study Hall

Hofstra Athletics - The Fried Center

Study Hall Hours in the Fried Center provide student-athletes with the opportunity to stay up-to-date, or even get ahead with classwork. Eight study hall hours are mandatory for all first-year Hofstra student-athletes during their first semester to make the academic transition to Hofstra University a smooth one. The Fried Center study hall area is also available to all other student-athletes as an additional on-campus space to complete work and study for exams. In addition to the Fried Center, study hall hours can also be completed via Zoom to cater to Hofstra student-athletes’ busy schedules.

Student Hall Hours
Monday-Thursday: 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Friday: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Sunday: 5-8 p.m.

Student-athletes are able to maximize their time by spending study hall hours at professor’s office hours or in university academic centers such as the Writing Center and Math Tutoring Center.  Time spent working in these other Hofstra academic centers can count towards weekly study hall hours if the student-athlete has their professor or tutor sign the alternate study hall hours form. With several campus resources available, both university-wide and in athletics, the student-athletes are able to be proactive and balance their demanding, yet rewarding, schedules.
