Biography

All-American at 285 pounds as a senior....Became Hofstra's first seeded heavyweight since Don Mayorga in 1976 and the first heavyweight All-American since Joel Kislin placed third in 1973...Five years, including red-shirt year, on the Hofstra Wrestling roster...Finished his career with 115 victories, tying him with James Strouse (2002-07) and Tom Noto (1999-2004) for eighth-place on the all-time Pride career victory list...Final career record of 115-47 with 44 wins by fall....Earned a bachelor's degree in physical education and health science in May, 2018 and is working on a master's degree.  

2017-18: All-American at 285 pounds after posting a 5-3 record as the 11th-seed and placing sixth in the NCAA Championships in Cleveland...Finished the year with a 39-6 record...39 victories are the sixth-most in a single season in school history....Recorded a 19-0 record in dual matches and 8-0 mark in EIWA regular season contests...Posted 19 wins by fall, 11 wins by decision, two tech falls and three major decisions...Received the 2017-18 NCAA Division I Award for Most Pins during the 2017-18 season....Named the 2018 Howard "Howdy" Myers Award winner as Hofstra's Male Student-Athlete of the Year...Selected Hofstra Wrestling's Outstanding Senior Award recipient...Also was co-recipient of the Hofstra Pride Community Service Award...Served as president of the Hofstra Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)...Placed second at the EIWA Championships with a 3-1 record, losing to Lehigh's Jordan Wood in the the second tie-breaker in the title match...Captured titles at the Journeymen Classic with a 3-0 slate, and the Navy Classic with a 5-0 mark...Placed fifth in the Southern Scuffle with a 4-2 record...Tallied win streaks of 18 matches and 16 matches on the season.

2016-17: Red-shirted the season and competed unattached...Posted a 29-2 record with eight wins by fall, 10 tech falls and three major decisions...Captured tournament titles at the New York State Collegiate Championship Open (B) Division, the Kaloust Bearcat Open at Binghamton and the Wilkes Open with a 5-0 marks...Posted a 4-0 record to win the Mat Town Open Championship with two tech falls, a major decision and an injury default win...Also 4-0 to win the title at the NCO...Placed fifth at the Southern Scuffle in Chattanooga with a 6-2 record...Hofstra Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Community service representative.

2015-16: NCAA qualifier...Posted a 2-2 mark in the Championships at Madison Square Garden...Starter at 285...Posted an overall record of 41-10 including a 15-3 mark in duals and an 8-0 slate in EIWA matches...Placed third in the EIWA Championships with a 4-1 record...Majored Princeton's Ray O'Donnell in the EIWA third/fourth place match...Tied for the most victories in the nation with 41...Tallied team-highs of 13 wins by fall and 13 major decisions...Second on the team with 12 wins by decision...Captured titles at the Binghamton Open (6-0) and the New York State Collegiate Championships (4-0)...Recorded win streaks of nine, seven twice and six matches during the season.

2014-15: Wrestled in 33 matches as a sophomore…Starter at 285 pounds…Posted a 22-11 overall record including a 10-6 mark in dual matches and a 5-4 record in the EIWA…Was second on the team with 10 wins by fall…Also posted one major decision and one tech fall victory…Placed first at the New York State Collegiate Championships, second in the Lock Haven Invitational and seventh in the EIWA Championships…Was 3-2 at the Cliff Keen-Las Vegas Invitational…Posted a 3-2 mark with three pins at the EIWA Championships…Posted a season-best six-match winning streak.

2013-14: Wrestled in 33 matches at 285 pounds as a true freshman…Posted a 13-20 record including a 4-12 mark in duals and a 3-4 slate in EIWA matches…Tallied two wins by fall and three major decisions...Placed fifth with a 4-2 record at the New York State Collegiate Championships…Posted 2-2 records at both the Cliff Keen-Las Vegas Invitational and the EIWA Championships…Recorded a three-match winning streak in November.

High School: Wrestled and played football for five years at Smithtown (NY) West High School…Posted a career wrestling record of 109-9 with 78 pins in high school…New York State heavyweight champion and league and Suffolk County champion  with a 42-0 record with 31 pins as a senior in 2012-13…National High School Coaches Association Senior National finalist in 2013…Posted a 43-4 record with 33 pins, was a league and county champion and placed sixth in New York State as a junior in 2011-12…Two-time wrestling captain for the Bulls…Also was an all-league and all-county selection in football as well as team captain in football…Received the Best Lineman Award and Booster Club Most Valuable Player as a senior…Played in the Empire State Challenge (Long Island vs. NYC) All-Star Game.
