Former Student-Athlete Spotlight

Stephanie Clarke was a four-year member of the women's lacrosse team at Hofstra from 1994 to 1997. One of the best players in program history, Clarke ranks second all-time at Hofstra with 909 saves. She was the first-ever All-American in school history, garnering USWLA honors (honorable mention) in 1994 before earning IWLCA All-American accolades in 1996 (third team) and 1997 (second team). Clarke was also a member of the United States National Team. In Clarke's four seasons, Hofstra won 38 games and captured the 1996 North Atlantic Conference Championship. Clarke is also a member of the Hofstra Athletics Hall of Fame and is the only women's lacrosse student-athlete to have her jersey number (#30) retired.

Family: Three amazing nephews and one beautiful niece…two brothers and two great sister-in-laws – and I have been blessed with two of the most wonderful and supportive parents ever. 

Favorite Memory of Hofstra: Winning the North Atlantic Conference Regular Season Championship vs. Delaware in 1996 & being undefeated in the NAC. 
What You Miss Most About Hofstra: Some of my best memories ever have been made with my friends both on and off the field at HU- Many of us remain tight today because of how we viewed our time there-it was more than just a game, yes we played to win, but we played with heart, with this overwhelming determination to succeed despite the odds that had been stacked against us at that time. We played for each other. With this fierce protectiveness for one another, that made our bond that much more unique and allowed us to do things, that perhaps would not have been possible otherwise. It was such a special time in my life. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to have been able to be a part of something so significant for the program at Hofstra, and for the sport of Women's Lacrosse in general. Those times I will cherish, and remember for the rest of my life.
