Hofstra Erupts For Season-High Four Goals In Win Over Northeastern

Hempstead, NY - Hofstra scored a season-high four goals, with four different players scoring, as the Pride picked up a convincing 4-1 CAA victory over visiting Northeastern Monday night at Captains Field. The victory was Hofstra's third consecutive win.

The Pride moved to 7-1-2 overall and completed the first half of the CAA North Division schedule with a 2-0-2 mark. Northeastern slipped to 4-3-2 overall and 1-2-1 in league play. The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for the Huskies.

Hofstra wasted little time in scoring as Henri Poll headed in a cross from Joel Bona just 1:12 into the game. James York also was credited with an assist on the play. Axel Ruben made it a 2-0 game at 35:44 as he headed in a pass from Ben Schulz that was partially deflected by keeper Brady Elmblad.

Marc Perkuhn extended the lead to 3-0 at 54:48 as he took a pass from Bona and raced in unstopped before chipping a shot into the far corner. Schulz would cap the scoring 7:13 later off a great through ball from Charlie Blair. Schulz dodged a charging Elmblad and put a shot into the empty net for the 4-0 lead.

Tate Duax ended the Hofstra shutout bid at 67:14 with an assist to Ethan Kang. But that was the only blemish for keeper Milo Risenhoover, who stopped three shots in 84:00 of action before yielding to Aidan GaNun.

Elmblad made four saves for the Huskies, all in the first half.

Hofstra returns to action Saturday when it hosts Stony Brook at 7 p.m.
